Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

I really wanted to do a talk through about Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher and I thought today was a good day to do it.

This story is told from Clay Jensen's point-of-view and he is one of the 13 people to receive a box of tapes from Hannah Baker. We all know right away that Hannah had committed suicide two weeks before Clay received the tapes.

I'm gonna try to make this interesting by giving you 13 reasons why I read it plus my opinions and thoughts.

1. I was not going to pick up this book. But I found myself looking at it a lot and really wanted to read it.

2. I was more encouraged to read it when my two sisters heard me talk about the plot, and they were really curious as to why Clay was on the list.

3. I tried reading this along with the audio, because everyone said it felt more realistic when doing so. I however was tired of waiting for the audio, so I read without it.

4. I was just as nervous as Clay. At some points I felt like I was panicking with him. I was just waiting for Hannah to bring him up and explain why.

5. I have been seeing some people give this book a low rating. It disappointed me because I heard a lot of: "No one kills themselves over that." Or "This wasn't believable." "She was just looking for an excuse to kill herself."

6. I would suggest reading this book especially if you have felt what Hannah has. I noticed that some people who gave it low ratings were people who had never experienced the pain of being bullied and the pain of what comes with it.

7. If you really want to know, I know what it's like. I've been there and luckily I got away from it before it was too late. That's why what Hannah went through did make sense to me. It does happen. It's the worse thing to think someone is your friend, and have them betray you the next day.

8. I cried when Clay cried because he knew it was his turn next.

9. I cried even more when Hannah spoke to Clay directly telling him something that made me feel so lifted yet so sad. I won't say because it might be a big spoiler. >~<

10. Reason #1 for Hannah, also happened to me. The only difference was I wouldn't let that person near me, so they told people at school a completely different story. =/

11. I read this book in one sitting. I could not put it down. I needed to know what happened and how it happened.

12. The closer it got to the end, the more I kept thinking 'No, no, no.' And the day after Clay finished the tape...that ending. I cried. I did. I was not expecting that ending but I'm really happy that that was included.

13. Because of how closely I related to this book, and just the way it took me and refused to let me do anything else during the day because I was so into it was just....wow. This book makes you think. It makes you want to reach out to anyone who might be feeling this way and it may even make you wish for someone to reach out to you if you yourself are going through this. That's why Thirteen Reasons Why got a 5 out of 5 stars from me.

I really enjoyed this book and I think everyone should give it a chance.
And before I go, did you guys see who they cast for the movie of this book?
I am just honestly disappointed. =(
And I asked for everyone's opinion and they were also shocked and disappointed.
But who knows. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
