HOMETOWN HEARTLES by Carrie Aarons

Hey guys! I'm here to tell you guys all about Hometown Heartless by Carrie Aarons!

One year ago, the boy next door was captured as a prisoner of war.

The boy whose window faces mine.
The backyard buddy who bandaged up my skinned knees.
The childhood crush that kept me up at night, wondering if he’d ever be my boyfriend.
The town hero I wrote endless letters to after he shipped out.
The blue-eyed charmer who promised me a kiss the day I turned eighteen.

And now, he’s home.
But he didn’t come back as the boy I once knew.
He’s a man now, one with demons I can’t comprehend.
The damaged soldier keeps telling me I’m not his anymore.
That the war took him, turned him into someone unrecognizable.
What he hasn’t considered is that it took me, too.

He swears there is nothing left between us, that his heart died overseas. But with each look through our windows, we both know his lies are just that. With each fated meeting, the truth only becomes more evident.

Everett Brock occupies the shadows now.
And as much as I try to pull him into the light, it seems the switch is permanent.
What he doesn’t realize is that I’m willing to follow him into the darkness.

August 2019 Wrap Up! ~

I really enjoyed this one! But I just wish there were a bit more romance in it!

4 stars!

Rereading this one really changed my mind about my previous rating.

4 stars!

I loved this book! It was so romantic!
It's mainly just drawings of the author and his every day life for 365 days of him and his wife!

5 Stars!

I loved Quiet Girl In A Noisy World!
Once I heard. Once I heard about this book by Debbie Tung I just knew that I had to read it!
I relate to about every single page in this book. If you're as much as a reader as I am, you'll relate to it too!

5 Stars!

I honestly did not like this book. I try and try with poetry books but this one made me realize why I shouldn't read them.

1 Star

Man. I loved this even more than the first volume!! I absolutely love this love story! Please read this graphic novel!!

5 Stars!

This is my first Sarina Bowen book and it won't definitely be my last! I already love Elle Kenndey but I was anticipating to see how this duo would work.
It was fantastic! The sports, the romance, the secrets, everything!
Wesley and Jamie both became new vook boyfriends!

5 Stars!

I really enjoyed this new take on vampires. But there was so much sexual tension in this!! I really got bothered by it because a moment would happen and then one of them had to leave or would stop halfway!!
When it finally concluded, I was just glad it was over with.
I still enjoyed this and would like to read the rest of the series!

4 Stars!

I can't give anything away without spoiling this one so I'll just say that it was amazing, it made me feel all the feels, and I can't wait for the spin offs!

5 stars!

I've had Blood Law on my TBR for the looongest time! I finally picked it and I'm so glad I did!
Shapeshifting wolves. Can you ask for anything better??
The duel between two twin brothers and one chosen one is absolutely the best!

5 stars!

I tried. I really tried. But this book just wasn't it for me. It's either Margaret Rodgerson or the genre Young Adult that's not working with me. Maybe I've out grown it??
Either way, this book was just terrible.

1 star.

O.M.G.!!!
L.J. Shen has just became my new favorite author! I loved The Kiss Thief but this was something else!!
I loved everything about this romance novel!
It had just the right amount of angst that I was searching for!
Please pick up this series! You won't regret it!

5 stars!

Okay, so. I was really loving this book until it got towards the end. There was just too much dialogue and a neverending series of events that could've finished up quickly and been done with. The story dragged on and that's what took off one star from me. The begging was great but yeah, not that ending.

4 stars!

Please let me know what was your favorite book that you read in August or what book you're gonna pick up in September!
Bye!

Paper Princess Book Revew~

  • Paper Princess by Erin Watt
  • Series: The Royals (Book 1)
  • Paperback: 370 pages
  • Publisher: EverAfter Romance (April 4, 2016)

Ella Harper has spent her whole life learning to live by herself and to trust no one but herself. Suddenly, a man shows up at her school and drags her to his mansion and five boys who want nothing to do with her. The man tells Ella that he was her dad's best friend and he made a promise to protect her and take her under his wing as long as she agrees to live with him. The Royal sons want Ella gone and will do anything to make that happen. All the Royal boys have hypnotizing looks and Ella right away makes an attraction towards Reed Royal.

Right from the beginning of this book, I was hooked! I figured Ella was going to get with one of the Royal boys but this book had me guessing! I loved Ella's courage and strength when it came to people picking on her, especially the Royal boys. Ella has been through enough to know what it means to truly survive in the world.
I was rooting for Ella the whole time and was never left feeling disappointed!
The Royal brothers were all unique. The twins....what are they doing??? I loved Easton's character. I loved the relationship and bond he formed with Ella.
And Reed.
What a mystery this guy is! He's completely irresistible but what is he hiding? I still don't know! What doesn't he want us to figure out? Why can't he be with Ella? Hopefully we'll learn more in the next book.
 And that cliffhanger...!!!
I am dying to get my hands on the second book!
Read the Royal series if you love spoiled rich kids, undeniable chemistry, bad boys, lovable characters. and secrets.
This series is rated for Young Adult readers but I personally felt like it was more New Adult.

Let me know if you would like me to review the next book!

5 out of 5 stars!!

July Wrap Up!~

Hey everyone! Let's get started!

The Return: Reflections on Loving God Back
by Lacey Sturm.

I love Lacey's previous two books, they were amazing!
But this one fell a little bit flat for me.

Reading this story, I learned a lot of lessons about love. I found that my love for God grew stronger. Lacey has a way of doing that.

Her words are so powerful and definitely worth listening to.
I still highly recommend Lacey's books.

Llama Llama Loves To Read
by Anna Dewdney

The Llama Llama books are such an amazing read for children and all book lovers!

This book shows step by step on becoming a reader.
The perfect story time book!

Eliza and Her Monsters
by Francesca Zappia

This book was amazing! It wasn't perfect, but I'm really glad I picked it up!

Eliza has anxiety and is hiding her real persona from her fans online.

Eliza and Her Monsters has a lot of geeky fandom, cosplay, fanart, and even some suicidal thoughts.

It can tend to be a heavy read at times but you end up loving the story just as it is.

Happy Marriage?! Vol. 5
by Maki Enjoji

In this volume we follow Chiwa as she takes a new job so her husband will stop supporting her father.

We watch Chiwa and Hokuto grow closer with one another and learn that their love isn't perfect.

I love this series and will continue ti read the rest of the volumes.

*Rated M

Shiver
by Maggie Stiefvater

This was a reread for me.

Shiver is lyrically, gorgeous, and painfully sad.

We follow the story of both Sam and Grace and their quest to be together while trying to escape cold.

Sam's desperate struggle to hold onto his humanity is incredibly poignant, and his heartrending relationship with Grace is deeply emotional and sweet.

To All The Boys I've Loved Before
by Jenny Han

I decided to reread this trilogy because of the Netflix movie coming out soon.

I think I may have loved this trilogy even more than the first time!

This book was still just as cute as the first time and it reminded me of how important family is. Especially the bond between your siblings.

 Linger
by Maggie Stiefvater

I didn't know what to expect after reading Shiver, but man was I blown away!

We not only follow Sam and Grace but we also follow Cole and Isabel. And oh boy, did I LOVE Cole!

Grace and Sam's love story seriously starts breaking my heart. Even Cole's story. I didn't really expect to care for the new character but his story is so heartbreaking that you can't help but feel something for him.

Happy Marriage vol. 6
by Maki Enjoji

In this volume we find out more about Hokuto's past and about how his mother died.

It's once again focusing on the growing bond between Chiwa and Hokuto.

P.S. I Still Love You
by Jenny Han

In this sequel we learn that Peter K. isn't perfect, but he still wins us over with his charm.

We also get to meet John Ambrose McClaren.

Lara Jean and Peter's relationship grows but there is so much drama!

I still loved it nonetheless!

Forever
by Maggie Sriefvater

I'm so sad that this trilogy ended!

This book was owned by Cole and Isabel! I just love their story so much!

I was sad to see Grace and Sam's story end but it was bittersweet. I really enjoyed it.

Hopefully the next book will give me more answers!
